BREAKING: Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu resigns

Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has officially resigned from his position, signaling a major political development ahead of the next electoral cycle.

In a resignation letter obtained by Nairametrics, Adelabu stated that his decision was driven by his ambition to contest for the governorship of Oyo State. His move is seen as part of early preparations by key political figures positioning themselves for upcoming state elections.

In the letter addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Adelabu expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to serve in the federal cabinet. He thanked the President for the trust and confidence reposed in him, describing his time in office as both impactful and fulfilling.

“I write with profound gratitude to formally tender my resignation as the Honourable Minister of Power, Federal Republic of Nigeria. I sincerely appreciate the confidence placed in me and the opportunity to serve our great nation under your administration,” he wrote.

Reflecting on his tenure, Adelabu highlighted his contributions toward improving Nigeria’s power sector, aligning his efforts with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He noted that his time in office allowed him to play a role in ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening electricity generation, transmission, and distribution across the country.

His resignation marks the end of his service in the federal executive council and the beginning of what is expected to be an active political campaign in Oyo State. Political observers believe his experience at the national level could play a significant role in shaping his gubernatorial bid.
